Exhausted Dogs Napping In Hilariously Uncomfortable Positions

Dogs can feasibly sleep anywhere. Noise level and location don’t make a blip on their radar. If a spot is empty, they’ll flop their bodies down and drift peacefully off to sleep. These pet parents who caught their dogs zonked out in the most absurd positions were concerned by their levels of contortion — but we think you'll be pretty darn amused.

1. Spreading out

Sadie was a skydiver in her past life. That’s why she’s so bendy. Her parents know when they find her splayed out, limbs all over the place, that she’s in her comfort zone and not to mind her thrashing.

2. Best room in the house

If you’ve ever fallen asleep on the toilet, you can’t judge Frank for his fondness for dozing off behind the can. It’s like the cool side of the pillow, but better because it always stays cold and sounds like the ocean.

3. Three stooges

Watch out for the pit bulls they said. The biggest worry you’d have with this zonked out trio is they’d fall asleep in a clump on your couch, and you’ll spend the afternoon lovingly snapping pictures of their cuteness.

4. Long neck

This poor long-necked fella looks like when a person tries to comfortably sleep on a long bus ride. Hopefully, his human squeezed a pillow under his head. Not that he’d notice, he was mouth open teeth out tired.

5. Yoga pro

After watching his human complete hours of yoga tapes, Riley decided to attempt the downward-facing dog. All that stretching promptly made him fall asleep mid position. He even had the deep breathing on lock; well, actually, he was snoring.

6. A technicality

Martha’s a real rule follower, so when her Mom told her no climbing on the couch, she technically listened. She’s not asleep, okay, she was just playing with her tennis ball and needed to shut her eyes for a few minutes.

7. Feet up

In this pup’s house, the rule is no feet on the sofa. If it means looking like a turkey on Thanksgiving in order to enjoy the softness of the cushions, you bet your biscuit this crafty snoozer will prop those footies up.

8. Reverse gravity

Nope, this dog isn’t petrified. This is a normal sleep position for Leela. Her parents could use her as a party game and toss rings at her rigid extended limbs. She wouldn’t mind at all.

9. On the road

Bring your furry pal to the dog park, and be prepared for a delirious level of exhausted bliss that follows. After racing around with all the other pooches, this happy guy couldn’t even summon the energy to stick his head out the window.

10. Patio pal

The family searched all over the house for the dog. Then, they looked out the kitchen window and found him like this, napping on the patio, supported by the table, ready to tickle the keys of an imaginary piano.

11. Paparazzi shot

Can a snoozing pup on a park bench get some privacy? Obviously, based on the cool pair of shades, this dog is someone important and doesn’t want to be recognized. He hoped his bodyguard would keep the paparazzi away while he caught a few winks.

12. Dinner and a nap

Before you call the police, this was the food dish, not the water bowl. Sandy knows better than that after she woke up choking and coughing last time. She won’t wake up until Mom starts pouring the kibble onto her face.

13. Like a pretzel

There’s the stretchers, the side sleepers, the drop like a sack of potatoes snoozers, and then there’s Carl. He likes to get his shuteye in the most contorted pretzel knot you ever did see. We all have our preferences.

14. Please don't stair

The other dogs bet Steven he couldn’t make stairs comfy. How foolish they feel now. They don’t call him dead weight for nothin’! No matter the surface, space, or environment, Steven will find a way to fit his body in it and catch some z’s.

15. All curled up

No one at the shelter told Annie her dog was part koala. What a lovely bonus! Her pup’s favorite sleeping position was the big tip-off since she curls up and hugs her tenderly to drift off to dreamland.

16. Packed away

Sally was practicing how to pack herself in a suitcase when she was overcome with drowsiness. Top marks for form and execution. One day she’ll get that stray arm tucked neatly away, but for now, it’s nap time.

17. Asleep at the wheel

Martin has a habit of sleeping on the job. No one dares bother him, though, because his mighty chompers tend to intimidate others. If he can make himself comfortable with his head wedged inside a steering wheel, it’s totally fine, as long as the vehicle’s in park.

18. Sideways

Frank must be living in another dimension with a nap spot like that. What’s next? Does his Dad find him deep in a REM cycle hanging from the dining room chandelier? Or curled up fast asleep on the roof of the house?

19. Sleeping standing up

Check out Barbara’s new trick! She stands on her hind legs, stretches to her full height, and instantly becomes comatose. You could prop her up on the kitchen table and she’d stay stiff like a statue. Such a good girl.

20. Gymnast dreams

“And he stuck the landing!” This small puppy dreams big. From the stiffness of his legs, it looking like he’s deep in a vision of barreling down the slopes of an Olympic ski long jump. Legs in the air, he does not care, he's still fast asleep.

21. Take a seat

While napping is an area where dogs tend to shine, they can also get themselves into a lot of trouble while awake! Even when canines get up to some serious mischief, of course, it's hard to stay mad at them.

22. Dishwasher Doggo

Thinking of getting a new dishwasher? Think again! This convenient dog installment will lick all your dishes until they're squeaky clean. Hey, at least this little guy is cleaning up messes, unlike another dog we know.

23. Eye on the Pie

Don't bother decorating your pies with this guy around. That happy, whipped-cream-covered face has zero shame about his delicious deed. The owners should have some shame, however, since they decided to still eat the pie! At least this incident didn't cost them any money, like it did for some other dog parents.

24. Pavement Pooch

When renovating your home, you might want to find a better place for your pup to play than in the construction site. What did they think would happen? If you ask us, the footprints should stay as a reminder of this doggone day. After all, dogs have a way of making those "special days" a bit more memorable...

25. You May Lick the Bride

This dog just couldn't stand letting someone else have the spotlight. Who cares about that $3,000 wedding dress, the decorations, and the sanctity of marriage? Not this pup, that's for sure. Just like other dogs on this list, he takes what he wants, when he wants.

26. You Butter Believe It

To bake a cake, you need some eggs, some flour, some sugar, and one stick of bitten butter. This dog is just trying to help you with the recipe! How can you be mad at that? At least he didn't go get himself stuck somewhere ridiculous...

27. Swinging Pooches

Sometimes, you just wanna do what the humans are doing. This pup saw his owners playing on swings and tried to join in. If the human children are doing it, how hard could it be? You just gotta get on, swing, and then... wait, how do you get down again?! Oh well — better to be stuck outside than inside.

28. Canine Security System

While stopping for gas, this owner got locked out by their newly-installed dog locking system. Happens to the best of us. At least he didn't drive himself to the park. Just like this car thief, the next doggo has been caught red-handed. Well... pink-handed, that is.

29. Puppy in Pink

When this owner found her dog riffling through her makeup, she was stunned. Did he really think he could pull off hot pink? Please. He's definitely more of a chasing-the-fire-engine red. This next pup, however, seems to think "brown" is his best shade...

30. Dirty Dog

When it comes to dogweed, you need to act fast before it spreads. Clearly, this gardener waited too long and now they're looking at an infestation of cuteness. For some reason, pups just can't seem to understand how gardens work, even when it comes to the simplest equipment.

31. Mutt Can

Another case of a doggo trying to help out and failing miserably. At least this pup got in a few good chews on the watering can before getting ahead of himself. Why can't owners understand that dogs and gardens don't mix? Some dogs are even guilty of digging up your biggest secrets...

32. Man's Best Friend

Now this is a wingman. When playing at a local park, this dog got to digging and found a little something to bring back to his owner. It's shiny and gold, human! Don't you just love it?! Clearly, when it comes to the outdoors, dog really know how to make a scene.

33. Ground Dog's Day

While attempting to protect his yard by trapping pesky groundhogs, this fellow ended up trapping his neighbor's dog instead. At least it was a live trap, or else there'd be a not-so-pleasant chat with the neighbors later. Don't worry — the dog made it out of the groundhog trap just fine. Plus, now we know there's six more weeks of winter! This next dog gonna have to work hard to top that.

34. Hat Hound

Don't you look fetching! Something tells us this isn't the first time this owner's head was used as a chair. Just look how comfortable everyone looks in this picture. If you can't beat 'em, seat 'em. Before we move on, make sure to leave the door open...or else.

35. Door Dog Ditch

Welp, now we know who let the dogs out. This fella is very proud of his work. Sure, the house seems like it's ruined, but if your door was that easy to break into, maybe this was a blessing in disguise. Speaking of disguises, can you tell where the dog is in the next photo?

36. Tight Spot

Where'd the dog go? The only thing we see here is an evil supervillain. Toys are no match for the nefarious Dogneto, who can tear anything apart in a matter of seconds. Don't let him scare you, or else you'll end up like this next pup.

37. Feeling Pawfully Sorry

This doggo is feeling very ashamed of her little accident, but she's got no reason to worry! She made it outside, just not quite all the way. Next time, she should take after this next dog and have the grass come to her.

38. Lazy Graze

These owners tried to get their pup to move out of the way of the mower, but he still ended up as part of the landscaping. Honestly, he makes a grass bath look pretty enjoyable. While this dark-haired mutt can shake things off, this next pup doesn't have that luxury.

39. Going Green

Apparently, the smell of freshly cut grass is irresistible to doggos. This gold retriever decided to turn himself into an Easter egg. Unfortunately, he looks more the bottom of the Easter basket. Will someone get him a paper towel?!

40. Paper Pooch

This dog won't be helping us with all these messes. First they break things, then they get themselves dirty, and then they make sure you can't even clean them up! And yet, we still can't stay mad at them. Way to go, doggos. You win.

41. Super Bowl Doggo

No scolding necessary on this one; those puppy eyes have learned their lesson well. After a few good tugs, this pup will be out of that bowl and eating treats in no time. But we have to admit, there's something about seeing dogs stuck in silly places that we just can't get enough of.
