Fans Think Priscilla Presley’s Granddaughter Looks Just Like Her – And It’s Not Hard To See Why

Priscilla’s doppelgänger granddaughter is the child of Lisa Marie Presley, who came along nine years after her rock and roll parents first met at an American military base in Germany back in 1959. Priscilla was just 14 at the time and had been stationed there with her mother and stepfather – an Air Force officer himself. Elvis, on the other hand, was ten years her senior and was already a major star.

That’s right: just three years earlier Elvis had scored his first chart-topping single and album, and he’d starred in the box-office smash Love Me Tender. But you may well be wondering, then, how on earth he ended up in Germany, locking eyes with the love of his life and future mother of his children. Well, after a draft notice, the hip-swinging star joined the U.S. Army and spent approximately 18 months serving over in the European country.

Priscilla’s parents probably never expected that she’d fall for one of the soldiers – let alone one of the biggest music stars in America. Unsurprisingly, they weren’t exactly on board with the idea. She told the magazine Closer in 2017, “My father said, ‘Absolutely not!’ My mother said, ‘I won’t let you walk across the street to see Elvis Presley!’ I knew this was going to be a battle.”

Despite the disapproval of her parents, though, Priscilla continued to see the “Heartbreak Hotel” singer. And in 1962 she moved into Elvis’ famous estate of Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. Just five years later Priscilla became Mrs. Presley when the pair walked down the aisle in Las Vegas. Pretty soon there was also the pitter patter of tiny feet.

You might not know that Lisa Marie Presley arrived almost nine months to the day that Elvis and Priscilla became husband and wife. Sadly, though, her parents’ relationship had already started to show major cracks by this point. The pair had even briefly separated during the latter stages of Priscilla’s pregnancy, according to Biography.com.

The website notes that Elvis continued to stray, too – just like he’d allegedly done throughout their turbulent relationship. Priscilla also reportedly had flings with a dance school owner and karate instructor. In 1978 she told People magazine how unhappy she had been at the time. Priscilla said, “My life was his life. My problems were secondary.”

Elvis and Priscilla eventually ended up splitting for good, with their divorce going through in October 1973. Thankfully, it wasn’t an acrimonious one. The pair agreed to share custody of their daughter and remained friends until The King’s tragic death four years later. In her autobiography Elvis and Me, Priscilla admitted she had “wanted to die” after hearing the news of her ex-husband’s passing.

Priscilla later took control of Elvis’ Graceland home after the latter’s shocking death at the age of just 42. She subsequently turned the estate into a money spinning tourist attraction. Priscilla also became a star in her own right when she landed the role of Jenna Wade Krebbs in the hugely popular soap opera Dallas.

Priscilla also found love again with Marco Garibaldi – a screenwriter and entrepreneur from Italy. In 1984 the pair moved in together and three years later they welcomed son Navaronne into the world. Priscilla never made it down the aisle with Marco, though the actress remained with him much longer than she did with Elvis. In fact, the couple stayed together for 22 years before splitting in 2006.

And Priscilla has also become a grandmother of four thanks to daughter Lisa Marie, who’s had quite the eventful life herself. The latter star spent her early years flitting between her mom’s Los Angeles home and father’s Graceland estate. But after losing her dad at such a young age, Lisa Marie perhaps inevitably went off the rails.

According to Biography.com, by the time she was 17 Lisa Marie had already been in rehab due to her issues with substance abuse. It was while seeking treatment that she met Danny Keough, who, like her father, was also a musician. In 1988 the pair got hitched and a year later they became parents with the birth of daughter Danielle Riley. Then four years on they welcomed son Benjamin into the world.

Sadly, Lisa Marie’s first marriage didn’t last that much longer than her parents’. In 1994 she and Danny headed for the divorce courts. It’s fair to say that Lisa Marie didn’t wait too long to move on, either. She walked down the aisle again less than three weeks after the divorce officially went through.

Yes, Lisa Marie stunned the entire world in 1994 when she said “I do” to possibly the only other music icon more famous than her father. The star had been secretly dating the King of Pop – Michael Jackson – for just four months when he proposed reportedly during a phone call! Lisa Marie accepted and, of course, the tabloids had a field day.

Unfortunately, this unlikely coming together of the Jacksons and Presleys didn’t end well. In 1996 – just over 18 months after they had got hitched – Lisa Marie and Michael divorced. But her second failed marriage didn’t deter the star from walking down the aisle again. At the turn of the century she got engaged to John Oszajca – another man from the music world.

But nothing appears to run smooth when it comes to Lisa Marie Presley’s love life. And after falling hopelessly in love with another famous eccentric – Hollywood superstar Nicolas Cage – she called off her engagement. In 2002 Lisa Marie made it to the altar for a third time. But Biography.com notes that her marriage to the Con Air actor lasted just 108 days!

Seemingly determined to outdo Elizabeth Taylor, Lisa Marie made Michael Lockwood husband number four in 2006. To be fair, this marriage ended up being her longest to date. She stayed with the producer, guitarist and filmmaker for ten years before once again filing for divorce papers. Back in 2008 the pair had also become parents to twins Finley and Harper.

Yet there’s much more to Lisa Marie than going through spouses like they’re going out of fashion. In 2003 she followed in her father and first two husbands’ footsteps by launching a music career. Lisa Marie’s first studio effort – To Whom It May Concern – peaked at number five in the Billboard 200 charts.

Lisa Marie went on to release several other LPs including 2005’s Now What and Storm and Grace seven years later. And in 2007 she headed into the studio to record a duet posthumously with her dad: “In the Ghetto.” Lisa Marie also helped her mother extend Elvis’ legacy as a co-trustee of his Graceland estate.

These various commitments means that Lisa Marie has often relied on her mother when it comes to childcare. In March 2017 Priscilla confirmed that she’d been looking after her daughter’s twins Finley and Harper for approximately nine months. And judging by her interview with People that same year, she appeared to be relishing the opportunity to spend more time with them.

Harper and Finley even inspired Priscilla to write her very first children’s book! The latter explained, “They have so much to contribute in their opinions, their viewpoints and questions. I value that very much.” Priscilla also revealed that her two youngest grandkids are already very familiar with her late husband and his iconic body of work.

Just three years later Priscilla had to deal with the tragedy of losing one of her other grandkids. Benjamin Keough was found dead at Lisa Marie’s California home at the age of just 27. And The Naked Gun actress took to Facebook to reveal how the incident had left her grief-stricken.

Priscilla told her followers, “These are some of the darkest days of my family’s life. The shock of losing Ben has been devastating. Trying to put all the pieces together of all the possible whys has penetrated my soul. Each day I wake up I pray it will get better.”

Benjamin had often been compared to Priscilla’s late husband. And you can really see it with a photo that Lisa Marie posted on her Instagram account in 2019. The troubled 20-something looked the spitting image of The King in the black and white snap that also featured his mom, sister Riley and twin half-siblings Finley and Harper.

One Instagram follower commented, “Beautiful Mama Lion and beautiful cubs! Your son is a twin of your Dad! Nice family.” Another made a similar remark, “Your son is the image of your dad.” But while Benjamin undoubtedly resembled grandfather Elvis, his sister Riley shares far more similarities with their grandmother.

In 2018 Riley uploaded several photos to her Instagram account of grandmother Priscilla in her youth. And if it weren’t for their grainy nature, you could have easily believed that they were modern-day selfies. For Priscilla and Riley appear to share several facial features – including the same chin, nose, eyes and lips.

Many of Riley’s near-400,000 followers took to the comments section to remark on the uncanny similarity. One fan said, “You look like your beautiful grandmother.” Another stated, “You do resemble her so much!” Then there was the individual who appeared to genuinely ask, “Is this Priscilla or you Riley?”

Unlike the second and third pics in black and white, the first color image that Riley uploaded showed off her grandma’s jet black hair in all its glory. Of course, Priscilla is now more renowned for dyeing her hair a fiery red. And this only makes the star look like her similarly flame-haired granddaughter even more.

Even her late brother Benjamin once commented on how much his sister and grandmother resembled each other. In 2015 Riley spoke to Town & Country magazine about an 80th birthday celebration for Elvis she attended with Priscilla and mother Lisa Marie. The star recalled her sibling’s remarking, “You guys look so creepy. You all look like different ages of the same person.”

And Riley sure seems proud to call Priscilla her grandmother. In the Instagram post uploaded to celebrate the star’s 73rd birthday, she described her as a queen. The feeling appears to be mutual, too. An insider reportedly once told Closer that Priscilla is extremely proud of her granddaughter for pursuing her acting ambitions.

Riley initially focused her attention on the modeling world and appeared on the runway for major labels such as Dolce and Gabbana. The star even graced Vogue magazine’s front cover alongside her mom and grandmother in 2004. In the accompanying interview, Priscilla discussed how pleased she was at how Riley had turned out.

Priscilla told the fashion bible that Riley – then still in her teens – had been a positive influence on the Presley family. She said, “We’re both here to take care of Lisa. It’s really Lisa who’s the kid.” Riley’s mother then chimed in to state that her daughter was “not a bimbo, nor will she ever be.”

In a 2017 interview with The Guardian, Riley explained why she chose to forge a career in acting considering she grew up in a much more musical family. She said, “I played piano but I’m not particularly gifted. Movies felt endless to me, whereas music I could see myself getting bored of.”

Riley made her acting debut in 2010’s The Runaways. She then went on to share the screen with Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy in Mad Max: Fury Road and appear in crime caper Logan Lucky. But her most acclaimed performance has been as the law intern who moonlights as an escort in The Girlfriend Experience. Riley even picked up a Golden Globe nod for her turn in the Steven Soderbergh drama.

Despite her various acting achievements, though, Riley will always be best-known as the granddaughter of Elvis Presley. Luckily, as she told The Guardian, that’s not something the star has a problem with. Riley said, “Why should I? It’s a fact. And I’m not ashamed of that in any way.” Riley also doesn’t mind being asked questions about The King, despite the fact he died 12 years before she was born.

In 2016 Riley told magazine Esquire, “People always ask, ‘How crazy is it that your grandpa was Elvis and your stepdad was Michael Jackson?’ I make them happy and say, ‘Yeah, it’s soooo crazy!’ But actually, I don’t think about it, ever. The reality is I know as much about my grandpa as you’d know about a grandpa you [had] never met.”

But Riley acknowledges that she’s benefitted from being part of such a famous family. She told The Guardian, “It’s been a huge help. I’m very privileged. Like the normal story of moving to Los Angeles and it takes you three years to find an agent? I got one in a week.”

As well as extending her family’s entertainment legacy, Riley has also continued the Presley tradition of marrying young. In 2015 the American Honey star was only 25 when she walked down the aisle with Aussie stuntman Ben Smith-Petersen. Riley’s mom Lisa Marie got wed in 1988 at the age of 20, while grandmother Priscilla was a year older when she got hitched to Elvis in 1967.

Riley told The Guardian, “Marriage is just something I wanted to experience in my lifetime, to be honest with you. But the older I get, the less urgent it feels to have a kid. Not to be too grim, but the world is in a weird place, so I’m kind of torn on whether to bring a child in, or to adopt. Like morally.”

There are certainly plenty of opportunities to spot Riley’s family resemblance in 2021. She will appear alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in The Guilty – a remake of the same-named Danish thriller about a call dispatch worker’s attempt to save a kidnapped woman. Riley will also play the fictional titular rocker in miniseries Daisy Jones and the Six.
