Marie Osmond's Daughter Has Grown Up To Be The Spitting Image Of Her Famous Mom

Marie Osmond is a true showbusiness idol. She’s been an entertainer for over four decades, and her toothy smile and sparkling eyes have become instantly recognizable around the world. Yet in recent years that same sparkle and megawatt smile has been showcased by her daughter Rachael. You could even say it’s like looking through a time warp at a young Marie.

The Osmond clan is one of the most enduring families in entertainment. Marie and her brother Donny are the most famous, as they became a beloved television and stage double act. But Donny is far from Marie’s only brother. She has eight in total, all of whom work in the family business in some form or another: Jimmy, Donny, Jay, Merrill, Wayne, Alan, Tom and Virl.

Considering Marie and her brothers come from such a large family unit, it’s no surprise they’ve all raised big families themselves. Marie has eight children, as do Virl and Alan. Tom went one better than them with nine kids, while Merrill has six. Donny and Wayne both have five, Jimmy has four, while Jay fathered three boys. That’s an enormous extended family.

Marie is the second youngest of the family, and the only girl, which has always made her stand out from the pack. And in 2019 Jay praised his sister on The Talk, saying, “I think the greatest compliment I can give my sister is that she’s so much like our mother. She’s not only a wonderful wife but she’s a great mother to her kids and a wonderful grandmother.”

The world has gotten to know some of Marie’s children pretty well in recent times, thanks to social media. Her daughter Rachael has received a lot of attention from Marie’s fans, in particular. Why? Well, she bears a striking resemblance to her showbiz mom. And some fans even think they could be “twinnies.”

Marie’s older brothers were already making their way in the music business as The Osmond Brothers in the early 1960s. They were regular guests on The Andy Williams Show, and Marie appeared on that show as a toddler. Williams even joked to his audience that she was the, “newest Osmond brother.”

But Marie’s breakthrough came in 1973 when, at only 14, she scored a number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart with her debut single “Paper Roses.” She then teamed up with Donny in 1974 for two pop singles, and this led to them getting their own TV special in 1975. Then the duo began fronting their own variety show in 1976.

This show lasted until 1979, when pop culture had seemed to move on from the family-friendly image of the Osmonds. But Marie would continue to find success in other areas such as acting in TV movies and performing on Broadway. Plus she had some more country hits in the 1980s, before teaming up with Donny again in 1998 for their own talk show.

Then a decade later Marie and Donny took up a residency at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas. Despite initially being booked for just six weeks in 2008, they wound up lasting an incredible 11 years. So clearly the siblings’ brand as a double act was still strong. Marie also appeared on Dancing with the Stars and The Talk during the 2010s. That’s some output!

When it comes to her personal life, Marie has been married three times – though only to two men. She was with her first husband Stephen Craig from 1982 until 1985. Only a year later she married Brian Blosil, and they were together until they divorced in 2007. She then reconnected with Craig, remarkably, and they remarried in 2011, 29 years after they first tied the knot.

Marie and Craig had had a son back in 1983, Stephen James Craig. Then, when she was with Blosil, Marie had two more biological children: Rachael and Matthew. Adopted children Michael, Brianna, Abigail, Jessica, and Brandon were also all added to the Osmond/Blosil brood during this marriage. Talk about a supermom!

Yet despite lasting for over two decades, Marie would later claim that she had been unhappy in her second marriage with Blosil. During a podcast appearance in 2020, she said that she had an epiphany after a terrible house fire in 2005. “I just went, ‘I can’t do this anymore.’ And my children came and said to me, ‘Mom please leave. We gotta get out of here,’” she admitted.

Strange though it may seem, Marie believed losing the house actually lifted a weight off her shoulders. She said, “It was probably one of the most freeing things that ever happened to me. Because I realized this home I had created was a façade to a marriage that wasn’t happy for 20 years. I really believe it was God – they say, ‘the burning within.’”

Regarding the rekindling of her relationship with her first husband Craig, Marie told People magazine in 2019, “Nothing is an accident. I am a spiritual person. So, God has his timing.” She confessed that following her second divorce she’d never wanted to be married again. This meant that reconnecting with Craig came as a total shock.

It was such a shock that even their son Stephen didn’t initially know what to make of his parents getting back together. And Marie said that he was a little bit scared of them trying to make a go of it so many years after calling it quits. But stranger things have happened in life, and who could possibly stand in the way of rekindled love?

You might not believe this, but it was Stephen’s own impending nuptials that made his parents decide to remarry themselves. “Stephen was getting married and we [realized] we can’t go to our son’s wedding and not be married,” laughed Marie to People. “So, we got married a few months before he did. He joked that he never thought it would happen, but it did!”

Marie admitted that she and Craig have since become more comfortable in their second marriage together. She said, “The thing about a second marriage is that you realize things you thought were so important, aren’t. I love being with my husband. He is the sweetest man I know. He lives to serve and really listens to people’s needs.” Perhaps this selflessness was true for Marie herself, too, when it came to looking after children...

Because during an appearance on Larry King Live in 2000, Osmond discussed how she feels about adoption, something especially close to her heart. When asked why she is someone who adopts, she began by saying that she doesn’t see a difference between a biological child and an adopted child. This is because, spiritually, she believes her children choose her.

“It was almost like God put them in front of me,” Marie revealed. “And if you ask a lot of adoptive parents, it really was almost that. It was a gut feeling they had. It was almost like I knew where to go.” She added that she felt as though her mother’s intuition had kicked in for the adopted children, too.

Plus Marie revealed that she is always up front with her children about their parentage. She told Larry King Live, “My children have known from day one that they’ve been adopted. My one little girl says I am more special than you because I am adopted. And she’s just fabulous.” Her kids know, “some came in mummy’s tummy and some didn’t.”

Rachael, the first-born child of Marie and Blosil, came into the world in 1989. And as she grew up it became obvious that she was becoming the spitting image of her beautiful mother. But even though she certainly inherited her looks, Rachael never attempted to follow her mom onto the stage.

Preferring to operate behind the scenes in the entertainment industry, Rachael has worked as a hairstylist and a costume designer. And she was reportedly part of the team surrounding her mom and her uncle Donny during their Vegas residency. That’s over a decade of solid backstage showbiz experience.

Rachael is married to Gabriel Krueger, whom she met in 2012 when he was a fashion design student at the Illinois Institute of Art. And they instantly connected with each other. Rachael, Marie, and Donny were in Chicago, at the time, while they worked on wardrobe choices for the Donny & Marie holiday special.

And just after a year together, Rachael and Gabriel decided to tie the knot. On Christmas Day in 2013 they married in a small ceremony at a cabin in Park City, Utah. Marie told People magazine, “I have never seen Rachael look happier! We welcomed Gabriel with open arms into our loving family.”

Marie was unrelenting in her praise for the couple, saying, “I absolutely love Gabriel and couldn’t be more excited for the two of them to start a wonderful life together!” Gabriel has since established his own costume design business in Las Vegas. So it’s no wonder he and Rachael gravitated towards each other, sharing such close interests.

Gabriel specializes in, according to his website, “the design and production of men’s, women’s and children’s apparel, costumes, sample sewing, pattern making and styling.” He has designed custom pieces for a host of people in the entertainment industry. Just a few of the famous names are Ashanti, Heidi Montag, Lil Kim and, of course, his mother-in-law Marie!

In 2019 Marie spoke to Closer Weekly about her close bond with Rachael, whom some fans have dubbed her mini-me. She revealed, “My daughter Rachael and I are very similar in a lot of ways. She has that same personality that I have where she wants to know and do everything. She’s never satisfied. She just took a hair class and now she’s taking [another] class.”

Rachael is also a doting mother, like her own mom. She gave birth to her daughter Rocket Jade in August 2015 in Nevada’s St. Rose Dominican Hospital. Marie gushed to People magazine at the time, “Little Rocket is such a gift! I can’t stop looking at her – isn’t she so beautiful?”

“She looks like her mommy!” continued Marie. “I could not be happier for Rachael, Gabriel and their growing family.” She then added, “I’m a Glamma again – two times grandma, two times as glamorous!” This was a reference to Marie’s first grandchild Stephen James, who was born in 2013 to her son Stephen and his wife Claire.

Fast forward to May 2019 and Marie attended a baby shower for pregnant Rachael’s second child. She wrote on Instagram, “Yesterday my incredible daughter-in-law Claire put on the most wonderful baby shower for my daughter Rachael! The time Claire spent and the attention to detail showed such love and it brought tears to Rachael’s eyes!”

Yup, Rachael got very emotional during the whole thing. Marie felt it too, writing, “From where I was sitting on the couch holding my youngest grandson Maxwell, I could feel the joy coming from the party. I locked that moment in my heart because it was absolute bliss. The love I have for all of them took my breath away.”

Rachael later gave birth to a boy named Wolf. And Marie celebrated with a post on Instagram, saying, “My newest grandson was born as the fireworks were going off last night for the Fourth of July celebrations!” Included with the post was a charming picture of Marie and Rocket Jade with the baby.

Marie added, “Rocket Jade is excited to be a big sister and the Krueger family of four are all happy and well.” Her fans were quick to congratulate the Krueger and Osmond clans, with one replying on Instagram, “Congrats Krueger family and Glamma Marie Osmond and Steve on being grandparents again!” They then added, “Rocket Jade will be a wonderful big sister!”

Speaking of Rocket Jade, Marie also posted on Instagram to celebrate her little granddaughter’s fourth birthday in August 2019. She wrote, “Join me in wishing Happy Birthday to my sweet little Rocket Jade! I can’t believe you’re already four years old! I love you so much and I’m so proud to be your Glamma!”

Marie accompanied the post with a photo of herself, Rocket Jade and Rachael celebrating the little girl’s birthday at Color Me Mine. Smiling for the camera, it looked like the three generations were having a great time. Marie added the fitting hashtags “ColorMeMine” and “BirthdayGirl.”

The next time the three generations were pictured together was in March 2020. Marie Instagrammed, “Family Time making a healthy snack. Lily’s Sweets chocolate covered raspberries with my daughter Rachael and granddaughter Rocket Jade!” The message came below a photo of the three in the kitchen, with Rocket Jade perched on the marble countertop pouring on the melted chocolate.

In August 2020 Marie again took to Instagram to spotlight an occasion she shared with her lookalike daughter. She hilariously wrote, “Happy 31st birthday to my precious baby girl Rachael. So, what happened? How did you get to be so much older than me? I love you so much, my angel!”

Marie then explained her joke for anyone who didn’t quite get it. She wrote, “Time for you to be ‘29 forever’ like me!” Marie gushed some more, writing, “I love you so much and the wonderful family you’ve created!” It was obvious, overall, how much her daughter and grandkids meant to her.

So Marie takes great pride in the relationship she has with Rachael and her other children, as well as her hands-on role as a grandmother. She once told Closer Weekly that her mother Olive shared some wisdom that always stuck with her. Marie revealed, “She said, ‘You know that you are successful when you can honestly say that you are a happy grandma.”

“That means that your children love you, that you have put family first and that your grandbabies love you,” continued Marie. “I can say that I am a happy mother and a happy grandma.” And could she really ask for any more than being a positive influence in the life of her daughter? We don’t think so.
