New Handsome Young Royal Is Breaking Hearts And World Records

So, who exactly is this Arthur Chatto? And where does he stand in line to the throne? Well, while his father, Daniel Chatto, is a renowned British artist, the royal connection actually comes from his mother’s side. As followers of the family will know, Sarah Chatto is the late Princess Margaret’s daughter.

Sarah, whose father is Antony Armstrong-Jones, walked down the aisle with Daniel in 1994. The pair had first met on the set of the movie Heat and Dust, where Sarah was a closet assistant. Yes, she had a real job! And the couple’s wedding ceremony was rather understated compared to the extravagant affairs usually favored by Sarah’s side of the family.

But this wasn’t the first time that Sarah had attended a royal wedding. Back in 1980, she was given the honor of being a bridesmaid on Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s big day. And Sarah has always been particularly friendly with the future king – perhaps because the pair share a passion for painting. So it was only natural that she was selected as Prince Harry’s godmother, too.

As the daughter of Princess Margaret, Sarah is also a grandchild of the late Queen Mother and King George IV. This makes her the only niece of Queen Elizabeth II. And so when Sarah became a mother herself, the Queen automatically earned the title of great-aunt.

Sarah and Daniel first became parents in 1996 with the birth of their son Samuel. Then, three years later, they welcomed another boy, Arthur Robert Nathaniel, into the world. As of February 2020, their children are 25th and 26th in the line of succession, respectively. So you can sort of see why they are one of the lesser-known clans in the royal family – well, until recently, that is!

But, according to reports, Sarah has always enjoyed a close relationship with her mother’s older sister. She has regularly joined Britain’s longest-reigning figurehead at her most cherished vacation spot: Aberdeenshire’s Craigowan Lodge. And Margaret’s passing in 2002 is said to have only strengthened the pair’s friendship.

Be that as it may, Sarah appears to try to keep her family away from the prying eyes of the media. But her efforts may well be in vain, as her two sons have no qualms about putting their lives on display for the world to see. Both Samuel and Arthur are very much Instagram-friendly royals. And fans can’t get enough of their content – especially Arthur’s. Any guesses why?

From Samuel’s feed, though, it’s obvious that he’s following in both of his parents’ creative footsteps. After serving an apprenticeship at ceramics studio Northshore Pottery, he traveled across the globe to better understand the art form. The young royal then went on to display his work at a high-end restaurant as well as advertising it online. But pottery isn’t his only talent.

You see, Samuel is something of a yoga master, too. In 2018 the royal spent 200 hours learning how to become an instructor in the discipline. According to Samuel himself, that was an “incredibly eye-opening” experience. And a love of yoga is something he shares with his blogger girlfriend Sophia Pipe.

Samuel and his heartthrob sibling, Arthur, also seem to have a strong bond. Both brothers studied at Westminster Cathedral Choir School and then went on to join Eton – the same prestigious college where Princes William and Harry were students. And like Harry, Arthur’s involvement in the Combined Cadet Force has given him strong foundations for a career in the military.

It’s not just Harry who seems to have inspired Arthur, though. Just as William and Kate did, he decided to enroll in the History of Art course at Scotland’s University of Edinburgh. Arthur has apparently embraced the typical student lifestyle, too, and often goes out clubbing. And reports say there’s always an “entourage of girls around him” wherever he goes – as is perhaps expected.

Sadly for Arthur’s following, though, the young royal has already taken himself off the market. In 2018 he began dating Lizzie Friend, a fellow student at his university. And the pair appeared to make things official with a loved-up snap that Arthur posted on his Instagram account.

An insider allegedly told the Daily Mail, “[Arthur and Lizzie] hit it off straight away. She’s really sweet, and they make a very nice couple. He took her to Royal Ascot this summer as his date.” Naturally, this has left some people wondering if Arthur will continue following in William’s footsteps and end up marrying his University of Edinburgh sweetheart. Is that wedding bells we hear?

Speaking of the Cambridges, Arthur actually attended their nuptials back in 2011 – along with the rest of his family, of course. Then, seven years later, he received another invite to a high-profile wedding: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s. But Arthur’s most memorable role within the royal family so far came back in 2012.

This was the year that Arthur was given the honor of being the page boy at the Order of the Thistle. That meant he was tasked with holding up the Queen’s train. The event was particularly memorable, too, as William was given his title of Earl of Strathearn at the same time. For those of you who don’t know, this is how the Duke of Cambridge is referred to in Scotland.

In fact, when you look back, you’ll notice that Arthur has attended quite a few official royal events. Just two years before the Order of the Thistle, for instance, the then-11-year-old joined mother Sarah and father Daniel at the Palace of Westminster’s House of Lords in London. The three Chattos were there to watch the Queen’s address at the annual State Opening of Parliament.

But now that Arthur’s all grown up, it seems he likes watching the fictional version of his great-aunt as well as attending her events in real life. Yep, in 2020 the youngest Chatto brother became the first royal to openly comment on Netflix’s The Crown. And he told The Daily Telegraph how he really felt about the show’s portrayal of his family.

Crucially, the series also features a fictional version of Chatto’s late grandmother, Princess Margaret, who is first played by Vanessa Kirby and then by Helena Bonham Carter. “Yes, I have watched it,” Arthur said of The Crown. “I guess it’s only an interpretation. So I just kind of remember what they’re actually like and don’t let the TV persona mar my judgment of any of them.”

Sadly, Arthur didn’t go into too much detail about his royal connections during the interview. But he did admit that he underestimated one particular aspect of growing up in such a famous family. “I am learning as I get older that there are more rules than I thought,” he said.

For starters, the young Chatto had to come to grips with the royals’ stance on social media. “When I first started,” he said, “obviously Instagram was a less big thing, so I had a bit less sort of, um... I mean, I don’t think I really have that many guidelines, to be honest. But obviously, I like to check in with the family and make sure everything’s alright.”

Arthur may well have been referring to the shirtless snap that nearly broke the internet back in 2018. The royal got fans all flustered with a revealing selfie he took while in the Scottish Highlands. But unfortunately for those who enjoyed the thirst trap, Arthur later deleted it. Let’s face it: the Queen probably wouldn’t approve!

Still, Arthur’s ever-growing legion of fans will know that’s not the only time he’s bared some flesh on social media. The royal once uploaded a pic of himself in nothing but his Calvin Kleins. Being a fitness fanatic, he’s also showed off his bulging biceps in a post about his weight-training routine.

And Arthur took his love of fitness to a whole new level in 2020 when he became a personal trainer at an Edinburgh gym. In between studying art history, spending time with his girlfriend and being the royal family’s premier piece of eye candy, the Queen’s great-nephew somehow found a gap in his schedule to work at BoundFitness. Arthur leads two weekly classes – one that focuses on the core and another that’s a boot camp session.

In a self-penned bio posted on the gym’s official website, Arthur reveals, “I’m a level three personal trainer. I specialize in strength and endurance training with a military focus… I’ve found physical training to be an essential cornerstone in improving my own mental health, and I want to share this with others.”

Also in 2020, Arthur used his natural athletic abilities to beat a world record. Alongside three pals, the royal rowed around the United Kingdom’s 2,000-mile shoreline to raise money for charity. The team, which was named Exe Endurow, took 42 days to achieve the incredible task at hand. And in the process, they collected more than $28,000 for the organizations Just One Ocean and the British Red Cross. Good job!

Not only were the crew the youngest ever to pull off the stunt, but Arthur was the youngest ever individual. And you can therefore see why the royal’s teammates hold him in such high regard. On Exe Endurow’s Instagram page, for instance, Arthur is described as “exceptionally committed and endlessly enthusiastic, a highly valued member – even if his questionable accents confuse us.”

Arthur and his teammates Harry Lidgley, Charles Bromhead and Oliver Dawe-Lane were certainly dedicated to the cause. Aside from all the usual preparation, world events meant that the clan had to self-isolate before the challenge. And, sadly, lockdown rules and social distancing measures meant that some other competitors simply couldn’t make it.

The gang took to Instagram to explain why they’d decided to push on and do the race when so many other teams had decided against it. They wrote, “Naturally, we’ve been delayed but are working hard to get ourselves ready to row. We’ve also decided, as a result of the situation, to raise money for the British Red Cross as well as Just One Ocean, because we’re keen to do what we can at what is a challenging time for our nation as well as our oceans.”

Exe Endurow put a lot of time into training, and they obviously didn’t want that to go to waste. They spent months rowing on rivers in both Edinburgh and Exeter. Arthur even made a four-hour journey by car just to get his hands on a rowing machine so he could practice at home. It seems, then, that not every royal has someone there to wait on them hand and foot!

And the team’s grueling feat was all the more remarkable because just 14 other people had completed the 2,000-mile route before them. The famously awful British weather and strong tides mean that the stretch of water is exceptionally tricky to navigate at the best of times. Seasickness and lack of sleep and water were just a few of the hurdles that the guys had to overcome.

Thankfully, though, Arthur had some special loved ones waiting for him at the finish line. Not only was the young royal welcomed home by his girlfriend Lizzie, but his mother, father and older brother were all there, too. Aww.

“With my mum, I think it’s always best not to tell her the full details and then she can’t get too worried. ” Arthur told The Daily Telegraph in a 2020 conversation about the race. “Then, when you’re back – touch wood – she won’t worry as much,” he added.

To no one’s surprise, Arthur later took to Instagram to tell his followers about his team’s impressive achievement. He said, “We are thrilled to announce we finished the GB Row under Tower Bridge in 42 days, 8 hours, 23 minutes [and] 16 seconds and became the youngest team ever to row around Great Britain. It was an amazing moment and made it all worth it.”

Arthur clearly loves rowing, but it seems anything outdoorsy is enough to float his boat – no pun intended. The royal’s Instagram account features several snaps of him pursuing various outdoor sports. Those who got to see his Highlands shirtless snap will already know he enjoys trekking across hills. But did you know he’s a fan of mountain climbing and Arctic diving, too?

And despite his love for life’s more exhilarating hobbies, Arthur isn’t averse to trying more traditional athletic pursuits every now and again. Captioning an Instagram snap taken in his adopted hometown – and this time featuring a shirt, we might add – Arthur wrote, “Brilliant run in the Pentland Hills just outside Edinburgh. Perfect way to escape the city for a few hours: get outdoors and get fit!”

It’s fair to say, too, that Arthur is taking full advantage of his new-found fame. In fact, the royal is now something of an influencer, having been approached by several luxury brands to wear and vouch for their products. They include Jöttnar, a mountaineering clothing firm, and Elliot Brown, a British watchmaking company. Fancy!

And as you would imagine, this is merely confirming Arthur’s status as the new most attractive member of the royal family – a title he isn’t entirely comfortable with, by the sounds of it. When The Daily Telegraph brought up just how popular he is with the ladies, Arthur said, “Oh God, that’s just not true, is it?” while letting out a big sigh.

Luckily, Arthur’s girlfriend, Lizzie, doesn’t appear to have a problem with dating one of the most lusted-after young men in the world. And she also had few qualms about watching her boyfriend set off on his risky yet world-record-breaking journey. The royal told The Daily Telegraph that Lizzie was “very interested… because she does geography... so she’s into the environmental side of it.”

Yet for some, the most revealing nugget of information from Arthur’s only major interview so far was all about his choice of footwear. When his bright red socks caught journalist Eleanor Steafel’s eye, she asked if they were decorated with the Queen’s favorite breed of pooch, the corgi. The young Chatto admitted that yes, they were, explaining that he’d got them as a Christmas gift. Sadly, he didn’t reveal the identity of the sender. But we can only hope they came from the Queen herself!
